Stephen Chbosky releases new book 20 years after the ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower'on Oct 14, 2019 Author Stephen Chbosky has written his first novel after the cult-classic novel, ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower'. Titled 'Imaginary Friend', the book is quite different from Chbosky's last hit. ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower' released in 1999 and has gathered many fans from the generations that have read it. It's a coming-of-age novel that follows an introvert teenager Charlie who goes through high school after the death of his friend, experiencing love and pain, alcohol and drugs and learning about sexuality. Chbosky started working with films and even made the film adaptation of ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower' in 2012. Now, 2 years after his first book he's released another. 'Imaginary Friend' is a horror book, following a mother and son moving to a new town who discover there are evil forces afoot. The plot seems reminiscent of a classic horror book like those of Stephen King's earlier days. The boy in the book is seven, ensuring the book shares almost no similar themes with ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower'. It has gotten positive reviews as a horror book so far.
